Attachment Issues

Do you notice that you have difficulty connecting with others? Being apart from others?

What are Attachment Styles/Patterns?

Attachment Style is a term used to descibe the particular way in which somone tends to form relationships and connections, and the strength/quality of those relationships. For example, some people can be direct and authentic in the way that they engage others in relationship, which maximises the chance for a ‘secure’ or strong attachment. On the other hand, other people may form relationships in ways that are less authentic to themselves (for example, always discounting their own needs in favour of the other), which can hinder the security of a relationship.

The way in which we make bids for connection and form relationships with others is strongly related to the way that we learn to form our earliest relationships (e.g., with parents/primary caregivers). If we learn to attach well-enough/securely-enough as children, we are well resourced to replicate this in adulthood and if not, it can be a lot harder.
