Personality Disorders

Have you been diagnosed with or suspect after some research you may have a personality disorder (or traits associated with one)?

Personality Disorder

Whether you have been formally diagnosed with a Personality Disorder by a Psychiatrist or resonate with descriptions of Personality Disorders you may have encountered online, the term can be a confronting one.

In my view and experience with clients, I tend to find that using labels like this can be unnecessarily stigmatising and do little to help people understand themselves and what troubles them. For others, labels like this can be important. Whatever your view or experience, I welcome you to get in touch to find out more about what support I am able to offer.

Professional Collaboration

Where helpful, practical and/or necessary, I am happy to work as part of a team of professionals you may choose to put in place to support you (e.g., Psychiatrists, GPs, Psychologists). Please discuss this with me if you are looking to add a psychotherapist to your pre-existing professional support network or if you are interested in how to approach other professionals for support.

(Please note that I do not work with clients who are already in therapy with another counsellor/psychotherapist/talking therapy practitioner)

I have a particular interest in working with:

  • Schizoid and Schizotypal Personality

  • Paranoid Personality

  • Borderline Personality

  • Narcissistic Personality

  • Avoidant and Dependant Personality

Frequency of Sessions

For some clients, once weekly psychotherapy is not sufficient to address the issues you are wanting to address.

I may suggest that in some cases, working twice weekly and/or in a group may be helpful. You are also very welcome to enquire about this if you feel it would be beneficial.
